The replacement of the normal
sand filter media with this glass based filter media has significant
benefits not only in filtration but also in anti bacterial action and the
health and safety of operatives:
Key
Advantages:
return in capital in under 12 months
, from water, energy and chemical savings
improve water quality and
minimise public health risk from contracting infectious diseases, filter
media bacterial levels reduced by 1000 times
improve air quality and reduce
the risk to pool staff from occupation asthma and risk to children from
predisposing them to asthma and respiratory disorders.
100% sustainable product inline
with government regulations
Drinking water standards compliant
(is your filter sand??)
Details of
AFM:
AFM will remove at least 30% more solids
from the water that a high quality silica sand
AFM removes much smaller particles than
sand through surface adsorption due to the high zeta potential on AFM
AFM removes dissolved organics and heavy
metals, also by surface adsorption due to the high zeta potential
Surface catalytic properties makes AFM
self sterilising.
AFM does not become blocked by bacterial
growth in the filter bed.
Surface catalytic reactions cracks
organics and decolourises the water.
Easy to back-flush, approx. 50% less
water is used in comparison to sand
Simple back flushing with water
recharges the AFM
AFM does not get consumed, it is likely
that it will last for the life of the filter.
Lower THM production than sand
Very high attrition strength, resistant
to strong acids and alkalis, does not leach free silica.
Sand and zeolites (air born dust) are
classified as a grade 2 carcinogens because of the free silica, zeolites
are particularly dangerous. AFM® does not contain any free silica and as
such it is much safer to use than sand.
AFM has a fused amorphous and extremely
stable structure as exemplified by the very high attrition strength and
negligible loss under ignition. Static leaching tests have shown zero (below
ppb detection level) leaching of metal ions over extended periods of time.
It is believed that AFM will be stable between a pH of 4 and 10 for at least
30 years.
When replacing sand use 30% of Grade 2 at
the bottom and 70% of Grade 1 on top.
